If Fotolia Contributor’s Natalya, aka Vanillamilk’s portfolio was a zoo it would be the most magical, exotic and funky zoo in the world. Imagine pink pandas, yellow kangaroos, red and green elephants and multicoloured zebras. It’s a wonderfully cheerful and uplifting experience to peruse her images and we got a chance to find out more behind her low poly style animal series:
Our thoughts, our preferences, our inner world and all the things we love are reflected in all that we do. From an early childhood I loved nature and animals. I enjoyed watching the world of wildlife, trying to see as much as possible. My grandfather often gave me pictures and photos of different animals and I liked to draw them.
In creating the illustrations of the animals in a low poly style is most interesting to observe as concise, discreet, graphic shapes suddenly fit together and become something fluid, flexible, inherent to the animal world. It’s amazing. Geometry is transformed into life.
When I create my illustrations, I first draw a frame made of simple triangles and then painted them using some Scriptographer scripts.
I also like to paint my animals in imaginary colors. Isn’t it interesting to imagine what this will look like? For example, a purple monkey or a zebra with different bright colored stripes?
