Every one is familiar with the individual beauty of a snow flake. But have you ever considered the microscopical construction of tears? In the same way that every snow flake has its own unique elaborate and structure and shape due to the water molecule formation, so to do tears.

Tears are composed of a biological mixture of water, mucin and oil amongst other things which as photographer Maurice Mikkers proves in his series entitled ‘Imaginarium Of Tears’ crystallise into individually complex and fascinating designs.

He took a group of his close friends and captured a tear drop, whether from voluntarily eating onions or when emotions kicked in due to happy, or sadness.  The results are exquisitely captivating, showcasing the fleeting individuality of human emotions and biology.
