FxFoto 3.0

Triscape introduces FxFoto version 3.0. For less than $40 photographers can import, edit, retouch, frame, and even upload their images to a favorite photo website. Photographers looking to improve current digital images do not have to spend $600 on Adobe products. FxFoto packs many popular image editing feature into the software including brightness and contrast, cropping, red eye removal, and my favorite adding a matte and frame look.

FxFoto comes in three options Standard, Deluxe, and Media. The standard can be downloaded for free. This software is very powerful allowing most photographers to do what they want brightness contrast, cropping and even cloning and blemish removal. The Deluxe option for $24.95 unlocks many filters, backgrounds, and framing options. In addition the deluxe option allows a photographer to create collages, add text to images and much more. For an additional $5 photographers can purchase the full Media version. This version will allows a user to create websites and Mpeg movies from image files but just $40 you can get the full version.

Having used this program myself I can tell you the power for value is outstanding. When I first started using the program it took me 5 minutes to learn where everything was and then I was surprised at how quickly I was able to use the program. The tabs at the top clearly identify what function happens there and I don’t have to figure our some new icon or tool. All tools are written in black in white. I browsed for my images directly from the application choose the image and opened it right away. Now my image was already a jpeg file but this program does accept Jpeg, TIFF, PNG, and Gif. At this time I can not tell if they support Raw files but I am sure it is coming (I hope).

The program is light weight only 2 MB to download and it runs very fast. I was able to quickly lighten some dark images using the slider bar at the top. I should mention the slider allowed for both overall brightness and contrast as well as isolating the highlights and shadows.

Like I mentioned above my favorite tool is using the matting and framing tool. Just click on the Frame tab and select from the many preformatted frames and mattes for you to use. It only took me 30 seconds and my photo looked great.

For those of you who like adding key words to your images FxFoto has a easy to use tool for you under the info and picture description tab. Simply choose from already populated key words or add new ones. The information is stored in the Exif data of the image. Some stock photography agencies like Fotolia can detect this information and save photographer valuable time submitting images to agencies.

Overall I am very pleased with the new FxFoto. It’s low price and powerful tools are perfect for the photographer not who doesn’t want to spend $600 for new software.
