Leica 75mm lens

New Leica lens creates beautiful real life portraits and features a new floating element.

Leica yesterday released a new medium telephoto lens for its Leica rangefinder cameras. The LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 75mm f/2.0 ASPH is the first lens of this focal length class to feature a floating element. According to the press release while focusing the lens the last lens element changes its position in relation to the rest of the optical system. The LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 75mm f/2.0 ASPH is able to offer superlative quality in the close-focus range down to 0.7 meters.

A 75mm lens will produce a nice real life portrait. With a sharp 2.0 aperature this lens can be used under very low light, because real life does not always happen in the most perfect conditions.

We will get more details on the floating lens for those readers like us who are puzzled. The lens will be available to Leica dealers this May.
