Six new printers from Epson

Epson has announced six new printers that utilize the new DURABrite ink technology. According to the press release these inks offer pigment durability with dye color saturation and brilliance. Also noted in the release is that these inks will resist water, fade, and even smudges just after printing on plain or high quality paper. My favorite feature is the ability to change only the color you need when it runs out. So if Cyan runs out you just replace Cyan. I am sure the ink prices are not cheap but I am impressed with what I read.

I am happy to see that Epson is trying to play a stronger role in the small business and home office market. This market as many of you know has been dominated by HP. With this introduction of new printers I really like two of the printers the CX7800 and the CX5800F. The CX7800 offers customers high quality printing, copying and scanning. But this scanner is top of the line. It scans slides and negatives at 48 bit 2400 x 2400. Plus it can work without a computer, printing directly from memory cards. The CX7800 is perfect for that creative person who needs additional space plus high quality scanning. The CX5800F offers printing, document scanning, copying, and even faxing all from the same machine. The CX5800F is ideal for a small business or home office. All the printers listed here are priced below $200. I paid almost twice that for my HP.

LONG BEACH, Calif., Aug. 22, 2005 – Epson America, Inc. is announcing a new line of ink jet products that are perfectly suited for the home as well as the Small Office/Home Office environment. These new models include one single-function printer—the Epson Stylus® C88—and five all-in-one devices—the Epson Stylus CX7800, CX5800F, CX4800, CX4200, and CX3810—that all utilize Epson’s new DURABrite Ultra pigment ink. The Epson Stylus CX7800
The Epson Stylus CX7800 is the flagship product in the new DURABrite Ultra all-in-one line. This fully-featured product provides customers with an easy way to get beautiful reprints and enlargements from photos, documents or even film. What really sets this product apart is its high-quality scanner, which offers 48-bit, 2400 x 2400 dpi resolution scanning for slides and negatives, and 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution scanning for photos and documents. Additionally, the Epson Stylus CX7800 offers the ability to operate PC free. Users can make copies of photos, documents and film, and even restore an old color slide, negative or photo without ever having to turn on a computer.

This all-in-one model can print directly from a memory card or a PictBridge-enabled camera and gives users two options for reviewing and selecting photos. Customers can view, enhance and select photos from a convenient 1.5” color preview monitor, or they can simply print out a proof sheet and choose the photos they want to print PC free.

Color restoration is made easy with the Epson Stylus CX7800’s built-in color restoration, Epson Easy Photo Fix™ scanning technology. Customers can restore faded color photos, slides and negatives to their original beauty with just one click with or without a computer.

The Epson Stylus CX5800F
This versatile DURABrite Ultra all-in-one model offers full-featured scanning, PC free copying and printing in addition to high speed faxing in color and black and white. The Epson Stylus CX5800F offers 48-bit, 1200 x 2400 dpi scanning for professional-looking results and it speeds through everyday printing up to 20 ppm for black text printing and up to 19ppm* in color.

It is ideal for critical business projects, but also offers the flexibility to print and restore frame-ready photos with Epson Easy Photo Fix scanning technology. Additionally, this model contains convenient memory card slots. Photos can be printed directly from memory cards or PictBridge-enabled cameras quickly and easily. Customers can also print PC free by choosing the images they want to print from a proof sheet.

The Epson Stylus CX5800F is Windows and Macintosh compatible and offers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. It will be available later this fall for an estimated street price of $149 (after $30 mail-in rebate).

The Epson Stylus CX4800
The Epson Stylus CX4800 is the ideal solution for everyday projects with its full-featured scanning and DURABrite Ultra pigment inks. This model also prints directly from memory cards and PictBridge-enabled digital cameras and offers the option of printing a photo proof sheet to select and print photos without a computer.

It also delivers high-quality scanning of photos and documents and is able to produce 48-bit scans at a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi. Creating reprints and enlargements and restoring photos without a PC is more versatile than ever with this product. In addition, the Epson Stylus CX4800 offers speedy printing at up to 20 ppm for black text and up to19ppm* for color text.

This model is both Windows and Macintosh compatible and offers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. It is currently available for an estimated street price of $129.

The Epson Stylus CX4200
This DURABrite Ultra all-in-one is ideal for the value-minded customer, who is seeking a solution for everyday projects. It offers all of the same great features that are incorporated into the Stylus CX4800, with the exception of memory card slots. The Epson Stylus CX4200 prints directly from PictBridge-enabled cameras, making it easy to print images from a digital camera without using a computer.

The Epson Stylus CX4200 is Windows and Macintosh compatible and offers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. It will be available in September for an estimated street price of $99.

The Epson Stylus CX3810
This entry-level DURABrite Ultra all-in-one is the most affordable in Epson’s line. It offers the same incredible print quality as the rest of the all-in-one line and PC-free copying of color and black and white documents. It also delivers detailed scans with its 600 x 1200 dpi scanner. Whether the customer is creating a reprint or an enlargement or using Epson Easy Photo Fix to restore a cherished photo, this product is simple and straightforward to use.

The Epson Stylus CX3810 is Windows compatible and offers USB 2.0 connectivity. It is currently available for an estimated street price of $69 (after a $20 mail-in rebate).
