Rumors
Rumors of the Nikon D50 specs are just that, unofficial rumors.
Today on a few digital photography websites including digitalslr.org their was a slight buzz about the Nikon D50 camera specs being released a little early. Some photographer comments even went so far as to suggest the D50 would soon be released. It has been written, that the D50 will have a price tag of $700. What we know to date is that the Nikon D50 if, and when it is released it will be targeted at the consumer market. This camera will not compare to the power or quality of the D2x. Any specifications that are pre-released are unofficial and can change at any moment. By my guess, I think we will have to wait until late 2006 before we see this camera in retail stores.
So often photographers wait for the next best thing and miss out of the fun of current technology. My recommendation is that if you like the Nikon system, buy the best Nikon digital camera you can afford now. Then invest in the top Nikon lenses. Someone once told me if you buy an expensive camera and use a cheap quality lens then you just wasted your money. Good quality lenses are key to great photographs. If you change to a different Nikon camera body in the future, you will still the have the lenses to support it. If you decide to change to a Canon, or Sigma system later then there is always eBay.
