Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II
Why spend $8000 on a new digital camera? Well if you demand the highest in image quality, performance and compatibility to your library of Canon lenses you just might spend $8000 for the New Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II.
The professional community has been eager to get their hands on one of these cameras. Recently released many stores are already sold out and back ordered. Why? Well the camera features a 16.6 MP CMOS chip for one and outstanding color capture for another. According to a test report by Popular Photography the new Canon Camera captures images with finer resolution than the average 100 speed color negative film and more colors outside the gamut of most films.
As with most DSLRs in this price range the camera features multiple color settings like sRGB, saturated sRGB, Adobe RGB, and RAW. Easily create a vivid landscape or capture a soft natural portrait without changing film or applying special software. The popular RAW capture mode gives complete control over lighting and exposure during post processing of the image.
16.6 mega pixels will allow photographers to make very big prints. One concern of making big prints with other digital cameras is the noticeable “noise” or “digital grain”. This camera is virtually noise free at ISO 100 and 200. Photographers will be able to make images as big as 18x24 with little to no noise present.
Inside the camera is built with the same rugged design, overall size, and control layout of previous Canon Pro Cameras. The camera features a magnesium-alloy body with a stainless steal lens mount; important for the unknown weather and terrain of professional photographers. The second generation Canon DIGIC processor reduces power consumption and increases image quality. Canon uses the same long lasting rechargable Li-ion battery as the earlier 11MP EOS-1Ds. Early Canon DSLRS had problems with the AF system in low light situations but Canon has improved this even down to EV 0 (at ISO 100). At the price of $8000 per camera photographers still might want to handle it with care.
