Leaf and Mamiya Create 22 MP Camera

Leaf and Mamiya combine forces to create a powerfull 22 megapixel digital camera.

About a month ago Hasselblad announced a new 22 megapixel digital back. Now Leaf and Mamiya have partnered together to provide what seems to be a better 22 Megapixel D-SLR. The new camera combination includes the Mamiya 645AFDII and the LEAF Aptus 22 digital back. This new system allows a photographer tethered or untethered shooting. The back features a huge 3.5 inch touch screen to control camera functions. The camera shoots a maximum of 1.2 frames a second. Images are stored on a type II compact flash card or Leaf storage device.

I am afraid this camera is out of my price range. But one can at least dream and drool.

Here are more details.

LEAF & MAMIYA INTRODUCE THE PRODIGITAL II THE LATEST 22 MEGAPIXEL D-SLR

Elmsford NY, September 1, 2005 Leaf and Mamiya today announced the latest 22 Megapixel D-SLR, the Leaf Mamiya ProDigital II. Comprised of the New Mamiya 645AFDII camera and the Leaf Aptus back, the new ProDigital II offers medium format quality with the convenience of a small format system.

Professional photographers rely on the best tools to create an image said Jan Lederman, President of Leaf America. Performance and image quality are critical. The new ProDigital II allows photographers to focus and shoot fast, tethered or untethered, and see the quality of the image from the camera.

The Leaf Mamiya ProDigital II improves the workflow by letting you work more intuitively. For example, the 3.5 touch screen, which allows users to setup and adjust image settings, is where you create and name folders and files. The lighting-fast 1.2 f.p.s. capture rate is a perfect match for the completely new auto-focusing system.
