Introduction of 2 new licenses: XS and XXXL

In response to both customer and photographer demands Fotolia has released two new licenses. The first license is called the eXtra Small standard license corresponding with the XS abbreviation. The license is designed for blogs and web applications (thumbnails and small images on websites). The license will start at just 1 credit for a 300*400 pixel image.

Fotolia V2: What has changed?

We are very pleased to announce the newest version of Fotolia passionately referred to as V2. We have been working on this new version for about one year. The design stayed pretty much the same but we totally rebuilt the underlying architecture and code of the website to increase stability, performances and functionality.
We hope this will help Fotolia become a major player in the stock image industry.

V2 is now deployed. It has been difficult and a real challenge in our lives. We have been working very hard for the last 4 days. The new database server had a material default and we had to replace it during the migration. The design will remain the same; with new features and some more will be released very soon.

You’ve heard us talk about some big changes coming for quite some time. Well it is finally happening. Version 2 or commonly called by insiders V2 will start to be released in just a few days. At the end of this week, Fotolia will be closed for approximately 12 hours to move our servers and release the new version of the website. No major visual changes have been made from a design point of view, however the entire website has been recoded to improve performances and prepare Fotolia for the future. We are also using this release as an opportunity to introduce changes in the pricing structure. The pricing changes will help simplify purchases and keep Fotolia competitive in the marketplace.

Fotolia is announcing two major changes in the credit conversion system. First Fotolia is removing the fees to convert credits to cash for transactions over $50 credits. (See details below.) Second Fotolia is introducing a new option in addition to Paypal to convert your credits to cash called Moneybookers. Now contributors from over 135 countries may receive their funds from Fotolia.

Size does Matter !

Size does matter when it comes to stock images and no one knows this best but our buyers and photographers. Therefore, by popular request, the Fotolia Standard Royalty Free License will receive a major overhaul. As the title implies the file size will dictate the price of the image license. In short, bigger files equal higher prices. However, this new system will not change or affect the extended royalty free license or exclusive buyout license.
