The world of Fotolia
Here is a new tool that everyone is sure to like, called Search by Country. Fotolia has combined a detailed map and IPTC information embedded into each image to create a graphical representation of the Fotolia database. This small graphical application makes it possible to search and view images by country. In addition the application allows users to see the vast distribution of photographs from around the world by displaying the countries of the world and how many photos are from that region.
Fotolia decided to graphically display in real time how many photos we collect from around the world due to the immense positive response we received from photographers from so many different cultures. We wanted an easy way for everyone to understand just how big and far reaching Fotolia pulls images in from. We are proud of our growing success and this application is a perfect way to show it off while also helping users find images from around the globe.
The application is very simple to use. Click on any country displayed to zoom in and view how many photos are from that region. (zoom out by clicking on the ocean) To view the images from that country simply click the red target in the country and the application will search for and display all available images corresponding to your search request.
The chart uses an XML file and Flash making it possible to update and display the website in real time.
A number of Fotolia logos are displayed on the map, each of these logos indicate a Fotolia office and or agents such as Seattle, New York City, London, and Paris.
As Fotolia continues to grow the map will display our success and worldwide expansion. We invite you to now search the images of the world using our new Search by Country feature.
