Dead Tree Photography - Shared Vision
There is a dream I had since I began photography. It was the idea of traveling the world with my camera and family. We would be a whole family of photographers capturing nature, people, world events, and special assignment work. Sending back roles of film or transmitting digital files from some internet café in Russia. And of course we would fly first class to every destination because we are rolling in cash. Now this is a dream and not all dreams come true exactly. My family loves photography but not in the same way I do. I am often out in the cold taking my pictures alone while my family waits patiently in the car.
Anyways when I read this recent press release about this family of nature photographers I took interest. Craig, Sara, and Scott de Fasselle have an exhibit that is opening up November 25, 2005 at Enjoy the Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio called "Shared Vision". The exhibit will run through January 23, 2006. All of them have a love for nature photography but they display it from many different angles and formats.
Craig, the father, seeks to capture both the beauty and majesty of his life-time love of nature through film and digital images. His images preserve the special visual moments that moved him emotionally.
Sara, the mother, started as the researcher and trip planner of the family's photographic expeditions. No longer content to enjoy the scenery while Craig and Scott took the photos, she began to pursue her own photographic efforts. Her images reflect a love of vibrant colors, majestic landscapes, and details and textures.
In contrast, Scott, the son, works in both film and digital photography before blending multiple photographs digitally. His images range from scenic black and white photos to photomontages that present the environment in new and inspiring ways.
The family runs and operates a company and website called www.deadtreephotography.com . Their works are not your standard nature images. They not only capture the majesty and brilliance of this earth but the images seem to express emotion. I highly recommend taking a look at their images and if in the Cincinnati area to drop on by and see the show.
I pulled a great poem from their website that seems to describe their love of nature.
Here in the woods where silence reigns
More eloquent than sound;
The place I stand 'neath the trees
seems somehow holy ground.
The birds withhold their carolling
the breeze abandons play:
And Heaven in this atmosphere
seems not so far away!
