American Women

A new book from the singer and photographer Bryan Adams.

When the Canadian singer and song writer Bryan Adams launched his photography book “American Women” in May 2005, he nicely surprised some of us(at least me!), but in fact, this is his third book already. “American Women” features famous Americans politicians, journalists, actors and athletes like Hillary Rodham Clinton, Paula Zahn, Gwyneth Paltrow or Venus Williams.

Bryan’s photography style, I could say, is clean and sober. Even if all the women are dressed in beautiful Calvin Klein outfits, the main focus in the photographs is not fashion, but the American women’s inner beauty and strength. The power of the inner beauty is even more emphasized, as all the 92 photographs are in black §white. Click here to see a preview of his images.

It was mainly shot in New York and Los Angeles in 2004 in close collaboration with the American legendary designer Calvin Klein. Like Bryan’s first two books , the “American Women” revenue will benefit the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre .

Bryan Adams’s first book “Made in Canada (Key Porter 1999) featuring important Canadian women benefited the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation , while his second book called Haven (Trebruk, 2000), in the United Kingdom benefited Haven Trust, a breast cancer support centre in London.
