Just a heart beat away
Maybe this is a little sappy but a heart beat is a cool sound.
Okay I think my wife is on the mend. She is no longer lying in bed 12 hours a day with complaints of nausea. Mothers from around the globe have told us that around week 12 -14 of the pregnancy things get better and I think they are right. I know that women have been having babies since the beginning of time and lived to tell the tale, but when it is your wife and your first child the world seems to stop until all is well.
My wife asked me the other day when she will feel better. I said in about 6 months, I don’t think she liked my answer.
Although I have seen ultrasounds of my child and experienced the joy they bring I have been feeling a slight disconnect, separation, or distance from my baby until the other day. My wife and I went to the doctor for a brief visit to check her weight and discuss how she was feeling but what happened next changed the rest of my day.
I heard my baby’s heart beat for the first time! That beautiful noise pierced me to my soul. Do you ever get a favorite song or jingle in your mind? Well I kind of feel like that but I love the sound of that heart beat playing over and over again in my mind. So keep beating away little one I can hear you. I finally feel that connection between father and child and it is awesome.
