NEW YORK – June 3, 2009 – Today, Fotolia (http://www.fotolia.com), one of the world’s leading sources for high quality microstock imagery and video, announced the expansion of its executive team with the hire of Garth Johnson, former VP Business and Community Development of rival firm iStockphoto, as the company’s new Executive Vice President for North America. The hire comes on the heels of the announcement that former iStockphoto co-founder, Patrick Lor, has been hired to lead Fotolia's North American Operations.

“Fotolia has continued to be an innovative pioneer in the microstock space. They continue to democratize the microstock industry, keeping stock imagery affordable for small business owners, non-profit
organizations, and other groups that would otherwise not be able to afford the costs of licensing imagery associated with other companies,” says Lor, President of Fotolia, North America. “A major goal for Fotolia is the continued expansion of our offerings through strategic partnerships with businesses around the world. Garth proved his competency in our previous work together, and he will make a valuable addition to Fotolia's already talented team.”

Johnson will be responsible for overseeing business development and strategic partnership opportunities for Fotolia North America, which currently has a presence in 11 countries worldwide. He will be working with Lor and Fotolia's co-founder and CEO, Oleg Tscheltzoff, on continued expansion strategies for the company, which has nearly four million monthly unique visitors (comScore), more than five million images available for license and more than 1 million members worldwide.

“I've really admire Fotolia's strategy and innovation in the marketplace," adds Johnson, of his decision to join the Fotolia team. "They have remained true to their vision of providing the highest quality imagery to media buyers for the lowest possible cost, making it possible for small businesses to legally access stock imagery that, in many cases, is essential to the success of their business, for use in creation of brochures, advertisements, Web sites and other promotional materials. Now, more than ever, with small businesses struggling to compete, Fotolia is empowering the small and home business owner. It will be a pleasure to work with the team to ensure that more businesses have access to our image library through strategic partnerships in North America."

Johnson and Lor both joined the Fotolia team on the heels of the announcement of Fotolia's expansion into the microstock video market, which was launched on April 28.

NEW YORK – May 6, 2009 – Today, Fotolia (http://www.fotolia.com), one of the world’s leading sources for high quality microstock imagery and video, announced the expansion of its executive team with the hire of Patrick Lor, co-founder of rival firm iStockPhoto, as the company’s new President for North America. The hire will bring Lor out of retirement, after his company sold to Getty Images in 2006.

“Fotolia has continued to be an innovative pioneer in the microstock space. They continue to democratize the microstock industry, keeping stock imagery affordable for small business owners, non-profit organizations, and other groups that would otherwise not be able to afford the costs of licensing imagery associated with other companies,” says Lor, of his decision to join the team. “They also continue to make it possible for talented photographers to connect with an audience of potential buyers, without the hurdles and costs of traditional stock firms. It’s a pleasure to join such a talented global team, and I look forward to working with them on bringing the company even more success as we continue to expand and enter new ventures.”

Lor will be overseeing North American operations for Fotolia, which currently has a presence in 10 countries worldwide. He will be working with co-founder and CEO Oleg Tscheltzoff on continued expansion strategies for the company, which has nearly 4 million monthly unique visitors (comScore), more than five million images available for license and more than 1 million members worldwide.

“Patrick had tremendous success with his work at iStockPhoto, and I’ve always admired his talent and what he was able to achieve,” explains Fotolia co-founder and CEO Oleg Tscheltzoff, “Fotolia has seen a tremendous amount of growth over the past years, and we’ve continued to expand both our physical presence globally and our service offerings. We have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline and are thrilled to have Patrick on board to help us bring Fotolia to the next level of success.”

The hire announcement comes on the heels of Fotolia’s expansion into the microstock video market, which was announced on April 28.

Since its launch in November, 2005, Fotolia has grown to offer one of the world’s largest libraries of legal, micro-priced images on the Web, offering professional and amateur photographers the ability to connect with more than 500,000 media buyers worldwide – from small businesses and design firms to some of the world’s most recognizable brands. With the launch of its stock video offering, Fotolia continues to expand its reach into new markets, satisfying the needs of videographers and video buyers worldwide by providing high-quality, low-cost alternatives to traditional stock video offerings.

NEW YORK, NY – August 26, 2008 – Today, Fotolia (http://www.fotolia.com) one of the world’s leading sources for legal, low-cost imagery welcomes its four millionth image, titled “Hot Air Balloon” (http://www.fotolia.com/id/8984099) and uploaded by Christopher Völlmya, a Fotolia contributor from Switzerland.

"We are pleased to be announcing our four millionth image,” says co-founder and president Oleg Tscheltzoff. “Fotolia has, since conception, prided ourselves in bringing together top photographers and illustrators with a wide variety of media buyers. We are thrilled to be able to spotlight the work of a Fotolia photographer with our own milestone. Without our photographers, we would not have had the success we have today, as one of the world’s leading providers of high-quality, micro-priced images.”

Fotolia’s contributors range from amateur enthusiasts who use the site to supplement their incomes or for the chance to see their work in print or online, to professional photographers who make generous incomes as full-time microstock contributors. Fotolia has also attracted photographers from some of the world’s largest and best-reputed agencies as contributors, due to our broad variety of media buyers.

Since its launch in November, 2005, Fotolia has grown to offer the world’s largest library of legal, micro-priced images on the Web. Professional and amateur photographers alike have the ability to connect with more than 300,000 media buyers – ranging from small home businesses to the world’s top brands.

New York, NY, August 5, 2008 – Fotolia (http://www.fotolia.com), the
largest global online marketplace for micro-priced digital stock
images, announced today a corporate subscription-based offering that
will give users four tiers of subscription access to its image library
of nearly 4 million stock images.

"The Fotolia corporate subscription service grants customers complete
control over media buying, enabling account owners to manage multiple
users within a single organization tied to a central account."
explains Oleg Tscheltzoff, co-founder and president of Fotolia, LLC.
"This allows corporations more control over tracking microstock
purchases without the need to open multiple accounts. As always, our
goal is to offer the highest-quality imagery to our buyers, by
attracting the best professional and amateur photographers in the
world and offering solutions that meet the media buying industry's
needs."

Corporations wishing to enroll in the subscription service will be
able to tie unlimited user IDs to a central account, which will make
media purchases and itemization much more efficient. Through a central
account, multiple users will also be able to access a central bank of
credits for media purchases, without the need for an accounting
department to monitor remaining credits on multiple accounts.

The packages offer customers ease of use, giving the administrator of
the account total control over the media buying process. Features
include the flexibility to download 25 to 250 images per day,
automatic renewal of your subscription, unlimited number of users, and
flexible subscription options for your organization's needs. For more
information on the service, or to subscribe, visit
Washington State Convention & Trade Center
The Art of Photo Painting Tour
This casual one day seminar sponsored by Kelby Training was definitely worth attending. Taught by internationally recognized artist, photographer, and trainer Faye Sirkis - she took us through the history of art and how to implement the techniques of the ages to create a digital masterpiece by showing you the tips, tricks and secrets behind using Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter X.

It was just amazing the way she would recapture the essence of beauty, form, and substance of by gone ages that continue to influence the way we work today. She shared with us the story behind the images she worked on, adding the emotional touch to her work.

The way she would give the face energy and individuality by applying those fine details to render the expression of the soul was the part of the seminar that I enjoyed the most.

If you have the chance of attending this seminar I would encourage you to do it!

The music of spring is so full of nature. Spring is not just about flowers blooming, butterflies and rain showers. Spring is the theme of life after the dead of winter.
So shake winter off and catch the essence of Spring! Go back in time and think of what reminds you of this season.

In my case, the mood of William Shakespeare reminds me of spring. In a humorous and lyrical way he would create and capture the essence of the spring season.

With the emotional change of the beautiful aspects of spring he would emphasize his feelings and fears. Shakespeare would imply everything we understand about the seasons of the year in our lives and the phenomena of spring.

So now is your turn to share with us the images of your spring memories.
