Google files for RSS advertising patent
Google patents advertising via RSS feeds.
As RSS popularity continues to take off Google will be ready to serve up Adwords via RSS feeds. According to an IOerror blog article and verified by Fotolia, Google filed a US patent for all advertising via RSS feeds. The US government has assigned the patent a number. It only took the government one and a half years, I think that is a record for the patent office.
The patent describes just how Google will use RSS to send out advertising worldwide and geographicly.
Google is currently beta testing AdSense for Feeds by serving up targeted ad content from the Google AdWords program.
Hopefully there will be an option to turn off advertising in an RSS feed.
For those interested here is a link to the Google patent.

I think the folks at IOError got their link wires crossed. The patent they've linked to is for Online Merchant Authorization and was written by Jason Tebeau not Nelson Minor.
