Microstock contributor Pavel Losevsky joined Fotolia in 2005, and has since built up a portfolio of over 20,000 images and video clips. We took a moment to drop in on Pavel to see what he has been working on lately:
Fotolia: Pavel, looks like you’ve been working on videos lately. How has that been for you?
Pavel: I started shooting microstock video about 2 years ago, and it’s been great. This sector is still emerging, so there isn’t a lot of competition. I’m shooting what I like to shoot, and just having a lot of fun with it. As for editing, I have assistants that help me with color correction and motion stabilization, and they do it all in Adobe After Effects.
Fotolia: With over 20,000 files in your portfolio, how do you determine what you shoot next?
Pavel: There aren’t enough hours in the day to shoot everything that’s on my list. I like to keep my eye on what’s happening in the world of stock, and if I see something that interests me, I take it and put my own personal touches on it. Lately, I’ve also been purchasing props on ebay, and shooting them as objects or adding them to my shoots as props. I’ve purchased over 200 items in the last 6 months.
