Nikon SB800 Flash Question

White balance problem with Nikon SB800.

As many of you know from reading this blog I am a Nikon D70 shooter. I recently purchased the highly powerful and pricey SB800 flash. This flash has everything TTL, Zoom, bounce, wireless connection, and much more. I shot a few image the other day and soon realized that something might be wrong with the color setting. It was my understanding from the 2 inch manual that the camera detects the flash and corrects the white balance accordingly. As a result my images were a little more on the blue side for my taste. I guess I can manually change the white balance myself in the camera custom settings or place a slight yellow gel over the flash but the color balance should be done automatically. I could be wrong though.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions please let me know. Until then I will reread the Nikon user novel I mean manual.
