The rugged, magnesium alloy body 7.1-megapixel Olympus C-7070 just might be the camera for you. While most of our readers shoot with a DSLR sometimes, a lightweight fully automated camera is a great break from the norm. With 7 Mega pixels a 4X zoom and many pro features this camera will not leave a professional who stubbles across a great shot kicking themselves later.

The camera offers a unique 4x optical zoom with a very wide angle start (27 to 110 mm, 35 mm equivalent). This camera will allow photographers capturing those wide city scapes and tight interiors to still do so. Nevertheless, if you are looking to get real close this camera may have you wanting for more.

As RAW features, gain more attention by software manufactures high quality point and shoot digital cameras will offer a RAW shooting mode as an option as the Olympus 7070 does. In Addition to RAW, the camera allows TIFF and Jpeg formats. Other standard features you expect from a camera like this are also available; slow sync flash, red eye reduction, multiple auto modes. Something different are the two underwater modes. We suggest you use the underwater housing to avoid ruining your camera.

The LCD is slightly small against other camers in this class at 1.8-inchs. The screen does allow the photographer to swivel the screen for easier viewing. The screen is bright and displays the image well.
Overall image quality is good but not great. 7 Mega pixels leaves no detail behind. Your basic images in the auto mode will be fine. For more control over lighting and color, choose the RAW option. If a photographer is looking for a good auto exposure camera that is lightweight with pro features then consider the Olympus C-7070.
