1&1 & Fotolia form strategic partnership
2 May 2006, London: 1&1 Internet Ltd, Europe's largest web hosting and domain name registration company, today announced a strategic partnership with Fotolia LLC, the first public, worldwide marketplace for royalty-free stock images, which will allow special discounts for 1&1 customers. Fotolia has one of the world's largest and fastest growing databases of inexpensive, royalty-free images and illustrations with over 620,000 images.
"With Fotolia, we have gained a partner that will revolutionize the legal stock photography industry with their innovative business model,” says Andreas Gauger, CEO 1&1 Internet. “The customer pays only for the resolution that they really need from a digital picture and may use the picture as often and as long as they would like. We are offering our hosting customers easy access and financial advantages to legal and inexpensive images for their websites.”
Oleg Tscheltzoff, President of Fotolia, adds: “1&1 Internet has a lot of users who are always in need of images for illustrating websites, blogs, newsletters, presentations, print catalogues, or advertising and we will try to help them save up to 90% of their current budget for images.”
Fotolia offers only royalty-free images and photos. Once that image is purchased, it can be used as long and as often as necessary for Web site illustrating, digital advertising, blog, print campaigns, package designs, or printing on T-shirts and mugs. All this is possible with the Standard royalty-free licence with prices starting as low as £1.00 per picture (output resolution from 2 MP to over 20 MP).
Also, as a special bonus up to 10 free pictures are available daily for registered users. The entire system also functions the other way around: great photographers or graphic designers can instantly sell their photos, graphics or illustrations through Fotolia and reach millions of customers worldwide, while always keeping the copyrights of their work.
For 1&1 customers, Fotolia images are easily acquirable through the 1&1 Control Panel — one click on the Fotolia button is all it takes to find the Fotolia shop. After registering, the system will automatically add a discount of 25% to each picture for 1&1 customers. Payment is done by a credit system, which can be loaded with a credit card or through PayPal. There is a 10 credit minimum purchase (each credit is £1.00) and the credits have no expiration date.
