Adobe Photographer Directory

Adobe and ASMP build photographer directory together inthe popular Adobe creative products.

In a recent CNET article, they announced that Adobe has collaborated with the ASMP to list a directory of professional photographers in their popular creative products. Designers will have direct access to portfolios, locations, and contact information to find the right artist and image for the job. Photographers will have the ability to sign up for the directory via the ASMP’s website.

As assignment work continues to drop off each year this alliance may help the industry to surge once more. Other partnerships are under negotiation with Adobe such as the Advertising Photographers of America.

Susan Carr, ASMP’s president, noted, “This new alliance will create another trusted resource for the design professional.” When users of the Adobe Photographers Directory hire ASMP General members, they can be sure of finding photographers who uphold high business standards, are technically competent, and are thoroughly familiar with the needs of the creative professional.

So will Adobe become the next "yellow pages" for photographers, where thousands are listed and designers will shop for the best price? For most photographers the yellow pages are not worth it. This is just something to think about before everyone rushes in to sign up. For a photographer to really do well in this business they need to put 20% into building their artistic skills, 80% into marketing their work, and 10% luck.
