Size does Matter !
Size does matter when it comes to stock images and no one knows this best but our buyers and photographers. Therefore, by popular request, the Fotolia Standard Royalty Free License will receive a major overhaul. As the title implies the file size will dictate the price of the image license. In short, bigger files equal higher prices. However, this new system will not change or affect the extended royalty free license or exclusive buyout license.
How will these changes affect buyers?
Every Fotolia image will now come with a print and web license, meaning every image may be used in printed materials, brochures, websites, blogs, electronic files etc. In addition, buyers may now purchase files available from photographers in various size and pay accordingly to the size purchased. How will these changes affect photographers?
Photographers should be very excited for the new changes since it means less work and higher payments. Instead of choosing 4 prices during the indexation process, photographers will now choose a maximum of 3 prices. One for the standard royalty free license, one for the extended license ( if you activated this license) and one for the exclusive buyout (if you activate this option and choose exclusivity for your image). After setting the base price of the standard royalty free license, the website will automatically calculate the price for each file size available for sale (M, L, XL, XXL). The available price settings depend on a photographers rank and image exclusivity. Bigger files can demand high prices with greater reward for photographers. Take a look at the new pricing page.

What will happen to images already uploaded?
Change is always difficult no matter what the situation however; Fotolia will make this change as painless as possible. Images already uploaded and approved will automatically be changed to fit the new system while maximizing a photographers profits.
