I am all for color management. Color Management and specificly GretagMacbeth has made a believer out of me. The final images from digital camera, monitor, proof, and final print are beautiful when used in a properly color managed workflow. However, my biggest challenge has been spending hours wasting my life in front of a spectrophotometer reading color patches into the machine. Sure I could of cheated and used the manufacture supplied profiles but the only true way was to create my own. That is why I am happy to read that GretagMacbeth has increased the speed of their Eye-One Pro.

GretagMacbeth LLC, part of Amazys Holding AG, Regensdorf, Switzerland, is shipping the accelerated version of its Eye-One color management solutions. The new enhancements to the Eye-One color management solutions include a newly designed, accelerated Eye-One Pro spectrophotometer that's twice as fast, providing a fluid and effortless reading of color patches, says the company.

To accommodate workflow automation requirements, the new Eye-One iO automated chart reader, scheduled to ship in the fall, will take advantage of the enhanced speed of the new Eye-One Pro device. The new Eye-One Match 3.2 software, with patented improved patch recognition algorithms, allows users to click, swipe and read patches almost instantaneously with no wait time between patch rows, explains the company.

The new Eye-One Match Digital Camera module, that utilizes GretagMacbeth's ProfileMaker technology, accommodates different levels of users and functionality, with primary photo workflow tasks incorporated. It incorporates an intuitive user interface which provides the ability to view and choose the effect of various settings directly in an image. In Easy Mode, a new camera profiling wizard guides the digital photographer step-by-step, with verification along the way, so users can easily create a camera profile without having to set any special parameters. An Advanced Mode, also guided by the wizard, gives the user multiple options to adapt the profile settings to specific photographic conditions including contrast, exposure, color saturation, and adjustment of shadows and highlights.

For digital photographers wanting to profile their cameras and other workflow devices, GretagMacbeth now offers a complete photo bundle - Eye-One Photo SG. This bundle contains the same features and functions of the Eye-One Photo plus it includes the Digital ColorChecker SG, which is needed to build camera profiles. Eye-One Photo SG provides a savings of $/? 100 over the list price of the modules if purchased individually.

Eye-One Match 3.2 is now available as a free update to all current Eye-One owners. Customers can download the software from www.gretagmacbeth.com. The Eye-One Digital Camera module, included in Eye-One Match 3.2 software, is now available. Current Eye-One Photo owners that purchased after Dec. 15, 2004 can download Eye-One Match 3.2 software free. The Digital ColorChecker SG is required to support this module sold individually. Eye-One owners who purchased prior to Dec. 15, 2004 can purchase the new digital camera module separately. GretagMacbeth plans to announce a customer loyalty program in the next 30 days that will allow owners of original Eye-One Pro units to trade up to the new accelerated unit.
