£30,000 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize
US photographer Steven Shore has been short listed for the £30,000 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. He and 3 other photographers have made the cut.
Shore was born in 1947, gained an interest in photography at an early age starting at age 6. Shore was one of the first to work exclusively in color. At age seventeen steven Shore met Andy Worhol photographed him and the creative people around him. Shores best works have been of the ordinary everyday things and pictures of the American landscape. In 1971 shore became the first living photographer to have a one person show at the Metropolitan Meseum of Art in New York.
The £30,000 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize rewards the living photographer, of any nationality, who has made the most significant contribution to the medium of photography during the past year. All four photographers works will be displayed in the Photographer’s Gallery in London until June. On May 11th Shore will learn if he has won the prize.![]()
