So your membership application has been thoroughly checked by our staff to make sure you have met all the requirements, don’t worry we are not the M.O.D. but we do take this very seriously. You have now received your validation e-mail, accepted your membership and you are ready for the good stuff, finding and purchasing your images. First things first, how do I find the perfect image? Here at Fotolia we have developed a quick and easy search function to make this process as painless as possible. It is comprised of four specially designed areas:

Keywords

After uploading an image you need to describe it using a set of at least seven suitable KEYWORDS. The keywording process is at least as important as the actual creation of the image because only those pictures with sufficient and exact keywords will be found and eventually bought by a potential buyer. We can’t mention often enough the importance of well selected keywords. Even the best image won’t sell if nobody can find it. By using effective keywords you can even add a conceptual dimension to your images. So all we are saying is that it really pays to take a bit of time and concentration for this procedure.

Free Section

Photographers and designers have the choice to offer their images free to members of Fotolia if Fotolia does not accept them. If a member offers their image to the free section, the photograph will be accessible via the search engine in the free photo section. The image will be sold at the price indicated by the photographer if Fotolia accepts the image.
