Why pay for photographs when their are free ones everywhere on the Internet?
For the same reason it is prohibited to download music on the Internet via peer-to-peer software for example, you cannot use images freely found on Internet.
Photography, like paintings or music, is a work of the soul and its author thus has a copyright on their work. Fotolia respects the rights of photographers and pays commissions to photographers for each image sale.
In addition Fotolia offers many advantages when compared to traditional image search engines:
- Images may be searched and selected based on image quality.
- Search for relevant images thanks to our multiple search criteria (color, keywords, and conceptual definition.
- Photographs available in high resolution
- Search for detailed IPTC information
